Main description

Connection is a pastel portrait of a horse, created from a reference photo I took at Dauntsey Horse Trials.

What drew me to the reference was the horse’s calm presence. I liked the curve of the neck and the way the light fell across the horse. I wanted to keep the composition simple, without adding anything around the horse that would distract from it.

I focused on the softer details of the coat, the shape of the neck and the horse’s expression. The darker background helps the lighter areas stand out and brings more attention to the horse.

Connection is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork created in 2021. It is part of my Quiet Power collection, alongside Harmony in Motion and Focused.
