Main description

Frozen in Time is a close-up acrylic portrait of a deer, painted in 2016.

What drew me to this pose was the feeling that the deer had suddenly stopped to listen. It looks calm, but the raised head and watchful eye give it a sense of alertness, as though it could move again at any moment.

I focused on the small details in the face, including the soft fur, delicate features and light in the eye. The close crop brings the deer into focus, while the cool, simple background helps the warmer colours of the fur stand out.

Frozen in Time is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork and is available as the original piece only. It is sold unframed.
